Applications open January 1, 2027 and close February 15, 2027 at 11:00 pm Pacific. The entry fee is $75, non-refundable.

Your two videos

The preliminary round is judged from two YouTube videos, with a combined length of no more than ten minutes.

  1. One work by J.S. Bach or Domenico Scarlatti.
  2. One work of your choice.
  3. A sign reading “James Stroud 2027 Competition” placed on a music stand or displayed prominently in the frame.
  4. The performer clearly visible, with the entire body in the frame, in a single unedited take from one camera angle. Edited or multi-angle videos are disqualified.

Opens January 1, 2027. Here is what it will ask for, so you can have everything ready. The $75 entry fee is paid by card as the last step of the form.
